Ananse and Monkey were friends.

"How many tricks do you know?"

Ananse asked.

"I know plenty of tricks!" said Monkey.

"I know two," said Ananse.

"One for me, and one for you."

They found Hyena in a hole. "Help me!"

Hyena shouted.

"Lower your tail!" Ananse told Monkey.

Hyena climbed out.

"Now I'm going to eat you, Monkey!"

Hyena said, and he grabbed Monkey.

Ananse laughed.

"Are you happy about eating Monkey?"

"Yes, I am!" roared Hyena.

"I'm happy too," said Ananse.

"Let's clap our hands for joy!"

Ananse clapped his hands.

Hyena clapped his hands.

That's how Monkey escaped!
